The most defining moment for me 2024 ✨was on March The most defining moment for me 2024 ✨was on March 15,2024 when my family came to visit us in Detroit. I hadn’t seen them since before we moved, and I was growing weary of the long winter and the entire transition. But when they showed up, it was the perfect house warming - they filled my home with laughter, joy and a reason to keep going. I can’t always explain it, but because they were here, I felt like I could finally call this new place home. Them coming gave me permission to spread my wings - and I love them for it! #taylorgangforever 🤍💙🤍
If you know Joey, you know that he’s funny, creati If you know Joey, you know that he’s funny, creative, and different ♥️- but different in the most endearing ways possible. For his fifth birthday, instead of a party he asked to stay at a fancy hotel. And this year, for his 10th birthday instead of a big party, he wanted a Home Alone hotel movie night in a fancy hotel just like Kevin McCallister. He’s always appreciated beauty and he seems to feel most at home when he’s in beautiful spaces. ✨ So… we headed to Downtown Detroit to the Westin Book Cadillac for a night celebrating Joey and the luxurious Christmas loving boy that he is. The city was quiet, cold, and sparkling with lights. We ate Little Caesar’s (that is top tier in Detroit) and we enjoyed our favorite junk foods and snacks. Detroit was a gift to us all - I love calling this city our home. I’m so thankful to share this experience with my family - it was one to remember! Happy Birthday Joey! My baby that I brought home on Christmas Day continues to be a gift to me Paul and his brothers! This was the moment. 💔 The moment when we drove aw This was the moment. 💔 The moment when we drove away from our home of 7 years, and from the city that I had spent all of my life in. As we slowly rolled away, so did our tears at the realization of what we were doing. My heart felt like it was going to burst with uncertainty, sadness, longing, and the tiniest glimmer of hope. Obedience doesn’t always feel good. Sometimes it taste bitter. But I have taste and seen that the Lord is good, and blessed are we who trust in Him. Psalm 34:8 A year later I wish I had more answers, But I don’t. But I feel a safety in knowing that we are in our Father’s will. It’s a crazy conundrum, and my desperate dependency on Him is quite what I needed. So whatever God called you to do, do it. Wherever he tells you to go, go. Whatever he asked you to say, say it. You’ll find Him in those very places. Because you’ll find more of Him in your Yes. ♥️Say yes to Him Mama. Say yes.
Last year two of my boys took their first day of s Last year two of my boys took their first day of school pictures in front of a hotel ♥️ an arrangement that lasted longer than we’d hoped for. But as a family, we said ‘yes’ to God's call to move to Detroit after living in Virginia all of our lives. We were learning quickly how much our ‘yes’ would cost. For one month we were living separately between two states with Paul, Joey and David driving home on the weekends. Every year until then, on the first day of school, I'd shine and press the boys up, and force them to stand on the porch for the perfect picture. Something that this photographer mom takes pride in. Last year, that was diminished to an earnest, “Don’t forget to take the picture!” PJ, my vibrant and people loving boy, started a season of online learning - we knew it would be a safe place for him for the year, but we knew how much he’d sacrifice making friends in person. Time proved right, he grew weary in a foreign and cold Detroit without the ability to form new connections that could fill the void of those that he had walked away from. Joey and David loved living in a hotel for a month and trying new restaurants every night. Each morning, In my place, the hotel staff lovingly waved, “Have a great a day at school!” as the boys trotted across the lobby with their backpacks behind Paul. Noah, stuck by my side, confused as to why his family was in a million places as boxes were packed, the house that we had known as home, was becoming less of that by the day. The emptier the rooms become the more the memories filled them. Even after we all moved to Detroit, for the remainder of the school year, the boys continued on different paths. It was challenging for the boys and us, and it was the hardest season of my life. 🍁But I thank God that the seasons always change.🍁 Long winters must always surrender to the rebirth of spring, and long summers must yield to the change of fall. And so is the same for you and me. And because the this mercy we have, I was able to restart our first day of school picture tradition. And by the same mercy I can encourage you Mama, that hard seasons don't always last.
After it was over I kept saying “That was so much After it was over I kept saying “That was so much fun!” The city was so beautiful, the native Detroiters trolled us for our jerseys, and being in the environment where life long dreams were coming true was spectacular!
